The Provo area recorded the fastest percentage growth in total jobs among the nation’s 150 largest metropolitan areas from 2015 to 2025, according to a September 29 report by economic development consulting firm Economic Leadership. Employment in the region grew by 41.3% over the decade.
The findings highlight the diverse contributors to the local economy, including entrepreneurs, professionals, skilled workers in construction and industry, and employees in the tourism and resident services sectors.
Provo Economic Development Director Cody Hill reported that 382 businesses launched in the city in 2025. Hill noted that the city's students and graduates provide new ideas while established employers and small businesses provide opportunities across various fields.
