SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah infielder Oliver Dunn is back in the major leagues, making his 2026 MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays after being promoted to the active roster on May 20.

The Rays acquired Dunn one day earlier in a trade for left-handed pitching prospect Joe Rock.

Dunn has scored three times since joining the American League East-leading Rays, though he is still seeking his first base hit.

Previous MLB career and history
The 28-year-old made his MLB debut with Milwaukee in 2024 and appeared in 55 games for the Brewers over parts of two seasons.
Path through the minor leagues
In 145 career major league plate appearances entering this stint with Tampa Bay, Dunn hit .206 with one home run while providing defensive versatility around the infield.
After electing minor league free agency following the 2025 season, Dunn signed a minor league deal with the White Sox in December and earned another opportunity with a strong start at Triple-A Charlotte.

College career and draft background
A 5-foot-10 left-handed hitter, Dunn played 155 games at the University of Utah from 2017-19 and batted .312 with seven home runs and 78 RBI. As a junior, he hit .366 and reached base at a nearly .500 clip.
The New York Yankees selected Dunn in the 11th round (No. 345) of the 2019 MLB draft.
