Voters in the North Canyon precinct will have access to in-person early voting for the first time ahead of the July 21 Primary Election. The Mohave County Recorder's Office launched the new site to improve access for residents who have historically had fewer voting options than other parts of the county.
The early voting site is located at Mohave Community College, Building 500, 480 South Central Street in Colorado City, which serves as the polling location for Precinct #205. The site is scheduled to be open Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Arizona time.
Because Colorado City is situated on the Arizona-Utah border, county officials are advising residents to verify the time before visiting the polls. Since Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, the site's hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Arizona time will appear as 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on clocks or phones set to Utah time.
Mohave County Recorder Lydia Henery stated that the decision to establish the site was part of ongoing efforts to expand voter access and participation across Mohave County, particularly in areas where travel distance or population needs create challenges. The site was created through internal planning within the Recorder's Office along with community input.
While North Canyon voters have historically relied on voting by mail or in person on Election Day, this new site provides an additional option. A secure ballot drop box will also be available inside the voting site for residents who wish to return their mail ballots in person.
The Friday and Saturday early voting window was selected by officials with consideration for mail delivery timelines. Henery noted that Arizona law requires all voted ballots to be received by the Recorder's Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
County officials are treating the North Canyon site as a pilot program. The Recorder's Office intends to track participation and gather feedback to determine if this option will continue or require modifications for the 2026 General Election. Henery emphasized that expanding access remains balanced against the priority of ensuring election security, accountability, and transparency.
Other early voting options remain available throughout the county at Mohade County Library branches in Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, and Kingman, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early voting began June 24 and runs through July 17.
The Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
