The Murray City School District Board of Education is considering the closure of Liberty Elementary School and related boundary realignments, according to a notice on the district's website. The proposed changes are intended to take effect beginning with the 2027–2028 school year.
The proposed boundary changes would impact attendance zones for several schools, including Grant Elementary, Longview Elementary, McMillan Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Hillcrest Middle School, and Riverview Middle School. These changes are also slated for implementation at the start of the 2027–2028 school year.
To assist families, the district has provided an address lookup tool on its website under Closure and Boundary Updates. This tool allows residents to enter a home address to view proposed elementary and middle school boundaries.
A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Liberty Elementary School, located at 140 W. 6100 S., Murray, UT 84107. The Board of Education is seeking public input and will consider feedback before taking final action, which is scheduled for December 10, 2026.
No final decision has been made regarding the proposed school closure or the associated boundary changes.
