Uintah Basin Technical College, commonly referred to as UBTech, is being spotlighted for its role in driving regional success through customized training, according to a September 29 report. The institution operates a main campus in Roosevelt, an extension campus in Vernal, and an instructional learning center located at the Duchesne County Jail.
The college is approaching its 60th anniversary in 2028 and holds the distinction of being the first technical college in the state of Utah. UBTech is currently working toward a milestone of graduating 1,000 certificate students annually. Most hands-on certificate programs require less than one year to complete, with tuition being 100% free for high school students and scholarship opportunities available for adult learners.
UBTech's programs in Welding, Automotive, and Practical Nursing have been voted the best in Utah, with Practical Nursing specifically ranking at the top in the Western United States. Students engage in real-world experiences through community partnerships, such as building mini-homes for local housing initiatives. Additionally, UBTech students have earned reputations as national champions by winning honors at state, national, and international skills competitions.
The college offers flexibility for students through various start dates at the beginning of every month. This approach allows the institution to align programs directly with regional workforce demands and help local employers build talent pipelines.
UBTech will host a Salon Open House and Ribbon Cutting at its Vernal Campus on October 13. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. with a short program, followed by campus tours and light refreshments.
