The Amalga Town Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Nov. 18, 2026, to consider a proposed ordinance regarding automotive service stations and truck stops. The meeting will focus on amendments to the Town of Amalga Land Management and Development Code.
According to a notice published Nov. 4, the proposed Ordinance No. 2026-10 would amend sections 7.4.1 and 3.31 of the Town of Amalga Land Management and Development Code. The ordinance seeks to identify automotive service stations, including truck stops and travel centers, as a permitted use within the Light Industrial (LI) Zone.
The proposed standards aim to establish regulations governing the location, site layout, design, construction, and operation of these facilities. Specific operational requirements mentioned in the proposal include addressing traffic circulation, truck parking, overnight parking restrictions, diesel truck idling, noise, lighting, fuel storage and dispensing, fire safety, spill containment, environmental protection, and accessory uses.
The ordinance is intended to promote public safety, protect neighboring properties and agricultural lands, and mitigate adverse impacts associated with these uses. The public hearing is scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 6590 N 2400 W in Amalga, Utah.
Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public review at AmalgaUtah.gov. Individuals requiring special accommodations to participate in the hearing should contact the Town Clerk in advance of the meeting.
The public is invited to attend the hearing and provide comments for the Town Council to consider. For additional information or special accommodations, the Town Clerk can be reached at 435-764-4255 or sritter@amalgautah.gov.
