The 202/6 801 Day celebration was set to take place at the Milk Block in Salt Lake City. The event, which took place on Saturday, August 1, served as a celebration of the local area code and community identity.
Scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the festivities included a beer garden hosted by Neighbors Bar, live music sponsored by KRCL, and a local marketplace.
A highlight of the event was the 6 p.m. unveiling of the new mural for Out of the Blue, also known as the 9th and 9th Whale, in collaboration with the Salt Lake City Arts Council.
The local vendors market featured several artisans and organizations, including Craft Lake City, Sarah Beth Timmons, Minjiyang Tattoo, Hand Drawn Photo Booth, Tomodachi Bake Shoppe, Pauline Nicole Design, Goose Glass, Empanadas801, Rug Lounge SLC, and the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs.
Attendees were encouraged to bring their own food and water, though they were instructed not to bring outside alcohol. The event provided activities for children such as bubbles and chalk art.
The celebration was supported by various sponsors, including Rocky Mountain Power, Milk Block SLC, KRCL, Red Butte Garden & Arboretum, Utah Democratic Party, and the Salt Lake City Arts Council.
Organizers recommended arriving via bicycle using the 9 Line path or utilizing UTA's Route 9 bus. For those driving, parking was suggested at nearby Liberty Park or on surrounding streets.
