Canyon Grove Academy has announced several updates to its elective programming, including the introduction of an Arts Academy and changes to existing programs. The school is also constructing a new campus located at 3046 W Maple Loop Drive in Lehi, which will serve as the hub for the Arts Academy and house Epic and Secondary students.
The upcoming Expeditionary Learning and STEM programs will replace the previous Innovations and Discovery electives. Families have the opportunity to select programs and schedules that best suit their needs.
One option is Expeditionary Learning for students in grades 2 through 6. This semester-long, off-campus elective focuses on hands-on learning through nature-based activities such as fishing, paddleboarding, hiking, and snowshoeing. While the activities take place away from campus, drop-off and pick-up will occur at the Pleasant Grove campus.
A second option involves STEM programming located at the Pleasant Grove campus. This program utilizes resources such as a Smart Lab for engineering and digital coding, a Space Center and Planetarium for astronomy exploration, and a Homesteading class. The Homesteading component includes instruction in organic gardening, animal husbandry, and food preservation techniques like canning and cooking.
The newly introduced Arts Academy offers a third elective choice. This program, based in Lehi, allows students to choose up to three electives per semester from various disciplines such as piano, dance, choir, art, karate, and theatre. Canyon Grove Academy plans to use a parent survey to finalize the specific classes offered for the academy's launch.
Elective selections will be managed through a Google form sent to enrolled students, with program availability determined on a first-come, first-served basis. All elective programs are optional for students.
