Weber State University introduced 15 new academic offerings this fall. These additions were designed to help students pursue passions and prepare for fulfilling careers, adding to the university's existing collection of more than 250 certificate and degree programs.
The new certificate programs include a 16-credit Fundamentals of Accounting certificate, which allows for the transfer of up to three approved credits from technical colleges or concurrent enrollment. An Advanced Accounting Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is also available for students with non-accounting undergraduate degrees seeking to qualify for Certified Public Accountant licensure in Utah.
Other new certificates include a fully-online Computed Tomography Certificate, a one-semester Mammography Certificate, and a 25-credit Personal Training Proficiency Certificate. The university also introduced a Construction Management Certificate through the Building Puentes program, which aims to graduate bilingual professionals in northern Utah. Additionally, new certificates were added for radiologic technologists seeking to regain eligibility for the ARRT Radiography Certification Exam, and for substance use disorder counseling to meet demand for addiction treatment professionals.
The university added several new degree programs, including an Associate of Science in Exercise and Sport Science and a Bachelor of Applied Studies in Early Childhood, which is the only program in Utah accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. A new bachelor's degree in neuroscience was also introduced, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety, which is offered primarily online.
A specialized emphasis in Athletic Coaching and Leadership was added to the Physical Education Teaching and Coaching program.
At the graduate level, the university introduced a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, which offers specializations in areas such as aerospace and structures or dynamics, controls, robotics, and AI. A Master of Arts in Teaching program was also launched, combining coursework with supervised clinical classroom training to allow candidates to earn a teaching license and master's degree simultaneously.
Undergraduate admissions at Weber State are open year-round, and graduating Utah high school seniors are automatically admitted to the university.
