The Alta Town Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026, to address several municipal items, including a public hearing regarding amendments to the Alta Town Code. According to a November 6 notice, the meeting will include a work session followed by a formal council meeting.
The scheduled proceedings begin with a work session at 3:00 PM, which includes a presentation and discussion regarding the Central Wasatch National Conservation and Recreation Area Act (CWNCRA). Following the work session, the formal town council meeting is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM and is expected to conclude by 6:00 PM.
A primary item on the agenda for the formal meeting is a public hearing to receive comments on a proposed ordinance. This ordinance would amend Title 10, Sections 10-1-6, 10-6D-4, and 10-6D-8 of the Alta Town Code to adopt a new definition for compact hotel facilities and amend the allowed uses and lot requirements for Zone C of the Base Facilities Zone. The council will also consider possible action to adopt Ordinance 2026-O-19 regarding these same code amendments.
Other business items scheduled for the meeting include an Alta Ski Area update from Mike Maughan and a major projects update. The council will also review the September 15, 2026, and October 14, 2026, Special Town Council Meeting Minutes as part of the consent agenda, along with November staff and finance reports.
Members of the council may participate in the meeting via electronic or telephonic means. The meeting is being held in a hybrid format, with in-person attendance encouraged at the Alta Post Office Building located at 10351 E Hwy 210, Alta, Utah.
Public participation is permitted during the meeting, with individuals allowed to speak for up to three minutes for each agenda item. Residents may also submit written public input through the town's website. To participate virtually, the town recommends notifying Brooke Boone via email in advance of the meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Nov. 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The town provides special accommodations for individuals with disabilities upon request, with a three-day notice required for most requests and a seven-day notice required for an interpreter for the hearing impaired.
