While employed at the district office, he worked as a teacher trainer, traveling throughout Utah and Idaho to present instructional skills. His leadership experience included serving as a principal and teacher at Hurricane Middle School during the early 1970s.
Beyond his administrative and teaching roles, Kroff was a local business owner, having operated a grocery store in Springdale located adjacent to Zion National Park.

Kroff was also a known figure in the genealogical community, specifically within the Washington County PAF Users Group. In January 2010, he served as a presenter for the group, providing an overview of four genealogical programs that interface with new FamilySearch software: FamilyInsight, RootsMagic, Ancestral Quest, and Legacy.
At that time, Kroff held the position of Vice-President of the Washington County PAF Users Group. He was also a dedicated individual in the field of personal histories, once noting the importance of personal journals. During his active years in the group, he and his wife, Carol, served a mission at the St. George Large Multi-Stake Family History Center.
