Real Salt Lake has officially clinched advancement to the 2026 Leagues Cup Quarterfinal stage. The decision follows the team's performance in Phase One of the tournament combined with results from FC Dallas and LAFC on Wednesday night. By virtue of an MLS-best goal differential of +7 and seven points from three Phase One matches, the Utah side ensured a top four finish on the Major League Soccer side of the bracket.
The advancement was confirmed after FC Dallas lost at Toluca and LAFC earned a 1-1 regulation draw against Queretaro on Wednesday. Real Salt Lake's performance included outscoring opponents 8-1, with goals from six different scorers and 19 different starters.
Following the final matchday of Phase One on Thursday, the specific dates, times, and matchups for the Quarterfinals will be determined. RSL is scheduled to compete midweek on either August 25 or August 26 at a location yet to be determined.
The club enters a busy schedule, hosting Minnesota United FC on Saturday at America First Field. This match is the fourth of five consecutive home appearances for the team between August 4 and August 19.
Real Salt Lake has maintained a 264-minute shutout streak since returning home on August 4. Goalkeeper and Captain Rafael Cabral has registered consecutive shutouts for the first time since July 2025. In three of RSL's four August matches, rookie Sergi Solans has scored, contributing to a club-high 11 goals this season.
