The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will open the application period for 2026 antlerless big game hunts on Tuesday, June 9, allowing hunters to apply for permits for species including deer, elk, moose, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep.
Lindy Varney, Administrative Services Assistant Chief for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, said these hunts provide an opportunity to harvest meat and create outdoor memories while helping to manage wildlife populations and maintain healthy herds and landscapes.
The amount of meat available from a harvest varies by species and age. A cow elk can provide between 120 to nearly 200 pounds of boneless meat, while a doe deer provides approximately 40 pounds of boneless meat.
Drawing results will be available on or before July 8. If any antlerless permits remain after the drawing, they will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday, July 28.
