Burton Elementary marked School Nurse Appreciation Day on May 6, 2026, with a spotlight on the staff members working in the school healthroom. The recognition focused on the kindness and compassion shown by staff members in keeping students safe and healthy.
The celebration acknowledged the role of healthroom personnel in managing student needs ranging from minor injuries to illnesses.
Health Clerk Ashlee shared her experience during her second year at Burton Elementary. She stated that she enjoys her role because it allows her to care for students and help them feel safe daily.
In addition to her duties in the healthroom, Ashlee serves as the wellness captain, where she creates challenges intended to improve staff happiness and health. She is also currently pursuing a degree in public health with an interest in corporate wellness.
School Nurse Cami, who has been a nurse for 14 years and with the Davis School District for three years, expressed her appreciation for the Burton Elementary culture. She noted her fondness for the students and staff at the school.
