High-Speed Pursuit Details
The investigation into the May incident began during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, 2026. According to a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-15 northbound near milepost 220 at approximately 2:40 a.m.
The attempt to stop the vehicle triggered a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds of up to 100 mph. During the course of the chase, the suspect contacted 911 and issued threats to engage law enforcement officers with a firearm, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Vehicle Crash and Escape
The pursuit concluded near milepost 236 after law enforcement utilized tire spikes to disable the vehicle. A Juab County Deputy deployed the spikes, causing the suspect's vehicle to crash into the center median of the interstate.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene on foot. At the time of the initial report in late May, the Utah Department of Public Safety stated that the suspect remained at large and urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.
