UVU Theatre has announced its upcoming production of A Tempest, a new adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play. The production is adapted and directed by M. Chase Grant and focuses on Prospero as he remains marooned on an island alone for over a decade.
The performance aims to explore themes involving grief, loss, madness, and discordant thoughts as Prospero struggles to maintain his sanity. The runtime for this production is under one hour.
The production features a cast including Dylan Thomas as Prospero, Autumn Bickmore as Ariel, Seth Johnson as Ferdinand, and McKenzie Blair as Antonia. Other cast members include Eryn Hales as Gonzalo, Theo Beene as Stephano, Lydia Curtis as Miranda, Emily Wennerholm as Caliban, Julia Taylor as Alonso, Savannah Arnold as Sebastian, Nathan Bowser as Trinculo, and Maryn Christensen as Boatswain/Francesco.
The production team is led by director M. Chase Grant, with Alexis Sanders serving as Stage Manager. Other key crew members include Production Stage Manager Alexis Sanders, Assistant Stage Managers Jaycee Chenoweth, Kennedie Young, and Sydney Peterson, along with Sound Designer Devin Parikh, Lighting Designer Kenna Seegmiller, and Assistant Director Curtis Cluff.
The production carries a content disclosure for mature adult themes, blood, inferred abuse, mental illness, loud sound effects, and flashing lights. It is rated PG-13, with parents strongly cautioned as some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
Following this production, UVU Theatre has Metamorphoses scheduled for November 15–23.
