Pioneer Theatre Company opened its production of Little Shop of Horrors on Friday, October 23, 2026, to welcome the spooky season in Salt Lake City. The cult classic musical features a score by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman.
The production is set in a pastiche of early 1960s American Downtown, focusing on the residents of Skid Row. The set, designed by Bryce Cutler, primarily features Mr. Mushnik's grungy flower shop and an alleyway to create a claustrophobic atmosphere. The performance lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes, including a 15 minute intermission.
Alanna Saunders performs as Audrey, while Andrew Faria plays the role of Seymour Krelborn. The cast also includes David Benoit as Mr. Mushnik, Nicholas Ward providing the voice for the Audrey II plant, and Joe Gallina serving as the Audrey II puppeteer. Brandon Espinoza appears as the dentist Orin Scrivello.
The production features design elements from Gerry McIntyre, who serves as director and choreographer, and Kate Casalino, who handled hair and makeup design. The puppetry for the Audrey II plant was crafted by Martin P. Robin. The show is currently running at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, located at 300 1400 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84112.
Tickets for the production range from $62 to $89. The show is scheduled to continue through November 7, 2026. More information regarding the production is available at https://pioneertheatre.org/production/little-shop-of-horrors/.
