High school football returned for week one of the season with a full slate of games, according to a August 28 report. The opening week saw several teams secure early victories to begin their campaigns.
The Palisade Bulldogs defeated the Lewis-Palmer Rangers 45-20, improving to a 2-0 record. Quarterback Aidan Shiao scored on a 65-yard keeper early and later threw a touchdown to Grasen Green. Carter Hayward and Adyn Cassity also scored for Palisade. This win follows Palisade's 34-8 season-opening victory over Resurrection Christian in Week Zero. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face the Montrose Red Hawks next.
The Cedaredge Bruins earned a victory against the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers on their home turf, though the game required relocation in the second half due to a power outage. The Bruins held a 27-0 lead at halftime. The Cedaredge defense forced multiple turnovers in the first half, including a strip sack by Blake Ryan that resulted in a touchdown for Makai Salazar. Logan Sanders scored three touchdowns in the first half, while Salazar and Liam Martin contributed through the ground and air.
The North Fork Miners defeated the Aspen Skiers 25-13 to open the season 1-0. North Fork recorded two safeties, one occurring after Braeden Laiminger tackled an Aspen ball carrier in the end zone and another following a high punt snap into the end zone. Tate Carver threw a touchdown pass to David Audelo before halftime, and Laiminger recovered an early Aspen fumble. North Fork finished the 2025 season with a 6-4 record and a postseason appearance.
