The Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of a driver who died following a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 215 near Taylorsville.
The deceased driver has been identified as 28-year-old Lovine Aiulu Saili.
According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol, the incident began on Monday when a Hyundai Elantra was traveling east near Redwood Road.
The vehicle's hood became unlatched and flipped up during the trip. The driver of the Elantra stopped the vehicle between lanes two and three.
A semi-truck traveling behind the Elantra was unable to stop and struck the rear of the vehicle, according to UHP.
The driver of the Elantra sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
