Guardsman Pass is scheduled to close for the winter on Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m., according to a statement released by UDOT Cottonwood Canyons on October 29. The closure is intended to ensure public safety as winter weather moves into the area.
The steep and narrow roadway will not have winter plowing operations. UDOT Cottonwood Canyons noted that the closure is necessary for safety due to incoming winter weather.
While Guardsman Pass will be closed from the SR-190 winter gate to the Bonanza Flat gate, SR-224 (Empire Pass) remains open. Pine Canyon is also open, though travelers should check with Wasatch County for updates.
