Communities, neighbors, and families across Utah are invited to gather for a meal on Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of America’s Potluck. The event is designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States by bringing people together around the table to celebrate shared freedoms and strengthen community belonging.
Potluck themes and traditions
The initiative encourages residents to host potlucks and can involve co-hosting with neighbors. The event highlights various culinary traditions within the state, ranging from ancient recipes of Utah’s Native peoples and pioneer dishes to modern traditions brought from around the world.
Featured recipes and resources
Featured recipes for the celebration include Funeral Potatoes, Cherry Limeade, Cherry Pecan Salad, and Dah diníilghaazh (Fry Bread). Participants can also access a toolkit with resources for decorating and social media to help amplify the movement.
Supporting local food security
Organizers are encouraging contributions to the Utah Food Bank or local community food pantries to ensure all neighbors have access to healthy food. In 2025, the Utah Food Bank distributed 58 million meals through a network of 309 partner agencies across all 29 counties.
