The Orem Public Library offers a wide range of materials for readers of all ages, including fiction and non-fiction books, videos, DVDs, audiobooks, and sheet music. The collection also features electronic databases, internet access, magazines, newspapers, and music on both vinyl records and compact discs.
Specialized Services and Study Rooms
The library provides specialized services such as a collection of screen-free Yoto Mini audio players and card sets for children, located on the north wing main floor. For those needing workspace, seven study rooms are available in the south wing and can be reserved up to seven days in advance for a maximum of two hours per day.
Computer Access and Internet Services
Public computer access is available in a self-service lab downstairs in the North Wing. Patrons can log in using a library card and PIN or obtain a guest pass at the Fiction Desk. The facility also offers Wi-Fi throughout the building without requiring a password, as well as printing and scanning services for a fee.
Checkout Policies and Late Fees
Library materials typically follow a three-week checkout period with two possible renewals, though certain items like DVDs and videos have different terms. Late fees are generally set at $0.10 per day for most materials and $0.50 per day for videos and DVDs. Items returned to the 24-hour drive-up book-drop on the north side of the library are accepted.
Pickup Options and Library Perks
Patrons can also utilize Hillcrest Lockers as a pickup location for holds, with items delivered Monday through Friday. Additionally, Orem Library card users may register for free at the Provo City Library.
The library's upcoming Summer Book Sale is scheduled to take place in Library Hall on Monday, August 3, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, August 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale features like-new and used books and media, with proceeds supporting library programs.
The library also accepts donations of books and media at the north wing information desk, though they cannot accept encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, or cassette and VHS tapes.
