Provo City School District is celebrating National School Lunch Week from Oct. 12–16 with a special theme titled Cafeteria Circus: Where School Meals Take Center Stage. According to a Oct. 13 statement, the celebration aims to recognize school nutrition programs and the Child Nutrition employees who serve students daily.
The week features daily lunch options with circus-themed names. On Monday, Oct. 12, students can choose between Pizza Croissants or Circus Corn Dogs. Tuesday, Oct. 13 includes Tumbling Tachos or Ringleader Burgers. Wednesday, Oct. 14 offers Spaghetti & Cannonball Meatballs or The Greatest Slice on Earth! pizza. On Thursday, Oct. 15, the menu features Tightrope Tacos or The Magic Muffin Meal, which consists of a scratch-made muffin, string cheese, yogurt, and animal crackers. Friday, Oct. 16 concludes the themed menu with Lion Tamer Pot Pie or Big Top Cheesy Dunk, a whole-grain cheese-stuffed breadstick served with marinara sauce.
Beyond the menu, cafeterias will feature colorful decorations, circus-themed photo booths, and fruit and vegetable bars. Activities may include Golden Ticket surprises, Big Top prize drawings, circus trivia, and coloring contests at elementary schools. Students and staff are encouraged to wear circus-inspired accessories like bright colors, stripes, or polka dots. The district noted that students who bring lunch from home are welcome to participate in these activities alongside those eating school meals.
The celebration is designed to honor the district's Child Nutrition teams. These employees are responsible for preparing meals, maintaining food safety, and serving fresh produce to help students refuel for the school day. While the circus-themed festivities conclude on Friday, Oct. 16, the district noted that the work of feeding Provo students continues throughout the school year.
The Provo City School District invites students and staff to join in the celebration and recognize the Child Nutrition teams for their efforts.
