The Uintah School Board held a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting at the district office on Wednesday night, September 10, 2026. During the business meeting, the board celebrated the district's Students of the Month for September and addressed the district's electronic device policy.
The school board voted 4-1 to leave the existing policy for Electronic Devices in Public Schools, known as Policy 007.0250, unchanged for the current school year. This policy includes a bell-to-bell ban on student cellphone and personal electronic device use in elementary schools. In secondary schools, use is prohibited only during classes and other instructional time, while students in grades 6 through 12 may use devices on campus before school, during passing time, lunch, and after school. The board found the policy, initially adopted in 2025, meets the requirements of Senate Bill 69, which was signed into law during the 2026 Utah legislative session.
The board recognized several Students of the Month for September, including Boyd Workman, Rayleigh Lance, Linkin Beacham, Knoxlee Wagner, Ruby Murray, Seeley Stubbs, Blaiklee Deets, Remi Keddy, Rawley McNaughtan, Will Haws, Jamin Gandhi, and Hayzlyn Wilson. Additionally, Uintah High School teachers received recognition. Amanda Muffler was named one of 10 Utah Education Association Excellence in Education Award winners, and art teacher Chris Manwaring had his painting, "The Last Slice of Summer," named Best of Show at the American Impressionist Society’s 27th Annual National Juried Exhibition.
Uintah High School is hosting several homecoming events. A homecoming parade is scheduled for today at 2 p.m. along a route following US-40 from 700 West to 300 East. The homecoming game features the Utes against the Deer Creek High Riverhawks at Coach Belcher Stadium, with festivities including a blackout theme and an induction for Athletics Hall of Fame member Candace Workman Triggas. The homecoming dance is scheduled for Saturday from 8-10 p.m. at the Uintah Training Center with a Spider-Man theme.
Tickets for the Uintah High Theatre production of The Drowsy Chaperone are currently on sale for performances scheduled for October 23-24, October 26-27, and October 29-30 at the UHS auditorium.
