The City of Kaysville has announced a variety of upcoming community events and important regulatory changes for residents. Key updates include new state legislation affecting mail-in ballots, the start of Fire Prevention Week focusing on lithium-ion battery safety, and seasonal reminders regarding water shut-offs and street maintenance.
New Election Regulations
For the upcoming General Election on November 4, voters should be aware of new regulations. Due to recent state legislation, ballots must be received by the County Clerk’s Office by 8:00 PM on Election Day to be counted, as postmarks are no longer accepted. Additionally, under HB300, all new voter registration applicants must now choose whether they wish to receive a ballot by mail.
Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Campaign
In regards to fire safety, the KFD's Annual Fire Prevention Week will take place from October 5-11, 2025. This year's campaign, titled Charge into Fire Safety, focuses on the safe use and recycling of lithium-ion batteries. Residents are advised to buy only listed products with safety certifications like UL, ETL, or CSA, charge devices on hard surfaces using manufacturer-approved cords, and recycle batteries at the Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Facility at the Davis Land and landfill rather than in curbside bins.
Seasonal Water and Tree Maintenance
Seasonal maintenance reminders include the scheduled shut-off of irrigation water during the week of October 15. Residents are asked to close their secondary water valves following the shut-off. For fall cleanup, the city reminds property owners that trees must be trimmed to provide 14 feet of clearance at the road edge and 8 feet along sidewalks to prevent debris from clogging storm drains.

Other community highlights include the Kaysville Police Department's participation in National Take Back Day on October 25, where unused medication can be dropped off at the Kaysville Smiths.
