A free Youth Hands-On ATV Course is available to help students fulfill the Utah Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Youth Education Course requirement. The program aims to teach essential safety skills and promote responsible riding on Utah trails.
Course Objectives and Safety Goals
The four-hour course combines interactive classroom sessions with practical exercises. According to the program details, the course objectives include increasing rider safety and knowledge, promoting sustainable and on-trail OHV operation, and fostering respect for communities affected by OHV use. Additionally, the training equips operators with awareness regarding Utah’s OHV laws and rules.
Registration Requirements and Preparation
Participants are required to bring an ATV to the hands-on training session. The process begins with registration and the completion of an online E-Course, which takes approximately 30 minutes. After completing the E-Course, instructors will contact participants two days before the scheduled class to confirm details.

July 11: Kamas City Rodeo Grounds (Summit County) and Richfield (Sevier County)
August 7: Heber City (Wasatch County)
August 15: Summit County Fairgrounds (Summit County)
September 5: Heber City (Wasatch County)
September 12: Left Hand Fork Blacksmith Fork Canyon (Cache County) and Richfield (Sevier County)
September 19: Jordan River OHV Park (Salt Lake County) and Monte Cristo Parking Lot (Weber County)
October 3: Left Hand Fork Blacksmith Fork Canyon (Cache County)
October 9: Vernal (Uintah County)
Completion Process and Registration
Upon successful completion of the hands-on course, instructors will email a confirmation along with a digital education card. Interested participants can register to secure their spots for these upcoming sessions.
