A University of Utah student has been sentenced following a guilty plea regarding the sexual exploitation of a minor in Salt Lake City.
Sergio Yahir Cruz Fajardo, 31, admitted to sending money to a 16-year-old girl in exchange for sexually explicit images and videos, according to prosecutors.
A judge sentenced Cruz Fajardo to 364 days in jail, with credit for time already served.
In addition to the jail time, he was placed on four years of probation and ordered to register as a Group A sex offender. If he violates the terms of his probation, he could be required to serve a suspended prison sentence.
