Weber State receiver Robert Young found the end zone again on Oct. 17, 2026, during a punt return touchdown against Idaho State in Ogden. The play helped secure a victory for the Wildcats and marked a personal milestone for the player, whose last touchdown occurred during his high school career.
The 68-yard punt return occurred after Young fielded a high-arcing punt at the Weber State 32-yard line. According to the report, Young made the first defender miss before breaking two tackles from Idaho State defenders to reach the end zone. This performance followed a 38-yard reception that helped spark a late touchdown drive during the same game.
Weber State head coach Eric Kjar noted that Young is a reliable punt returner who makes good situational decisions and poses a threat in the open field. Kjar described the receiver as strong, explosive, and highly coachable. Through eight games, Young has recorded 20 receptions for 301 yards.
Young's journey to Weber State began after he moved from Maui, Hawaii, to Utah to find more football opportunities. During his three seasons at Roy High School, he scored 57 total touchdowns, including 18 rushing, 12 receiving, and three on kickoff returns. His final high school touchdown came during a 42-35 loss to Bountiful in the 5A state championship game on Nov. 21, 2024. After a period of uncertainty regarding his collegiate career, Young joined Weber State following an invitation from Skyler Ridley.
Young, who previously served as a walk-on freshman, has transitioned into a rotational role for the Wildcats. He has noted that the team has become closer as a family throughout the current season.
