The Amelia Earhart Elementary School Community Council met on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, to conduct business regarding school bylaws and student achievement data, according to meeting minutes published Oct. 5.
During the meeting held in the conference room, council members approved updated bylaws and reviewed the current implementation of the 2026–27 School LAND Trust Plan.
The council voted to adopt revised bylaws to align with current requirements and council structure. The updated procedures include a process for electing the Chair and Vice Chair annually, with the requirement that the Chair must be a parent member.
The revised bylaws clarify staggered two-year terms and define the council composition. The Amelia Earhart Elementary School Community Council consists of eight voting members: six parent/guardian members and two school employee members, including the principal who serves as an ex officio voting member and one elected school employee representative.
Lauren Moon presented information regarding Title I parent and family engagement, which included a review of the Parent–School Compact.
Members also reviewed beginning-of-year student achievement data for reading and mathematics, focusing on grade-level trends, areas of strength, and areas of need. The council discussed the school's Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) designation and achievement data for identified student groups, such as multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
The council reviewed the 2026–27 School LAND Trust Plan to monitor implementation, academic goals, and expenditures. Discussions focused on whether expenditures aligned with the approved plan and what evidence would be used to determine if strategies are improving student outcomes. The council also began identifying academic priorities to inform the development of the 2027–28 School LAND Trust Plan.
The meeting adjourned at 11:51 a.m. The next School Community Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room.
