The Big 12 Conference confirmed that its Football Media Days will return to the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The 2026 event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, and Wednesday, July 8, featuring a rotation of eight programs each day.
The two-day event will take place at the practice home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. Big 12 Chief Football & Competition Officer Scott Draper stated that The Star has been a tremendous host for this marquee event in the past, providing a great experience for coaches, student-athletes, media, and guests. He also noted the conference's appreciation for the partnership with the Dallas Cowboys.
For the 2026 media circuit, Utah and BYU will participate on separate days for the third consecutive year. According to KSL Sports, BYU is scheduled to appear on Day 1, Tuesday, July 7, alongside teams including Arizona State, Baylor, UCF, Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma, State, and reigning Big 12 Champion Texas Tech.
Utah will take center stage on Day 2, Wednesday, July 8. The second day of the schedule includes Arizona, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, TCU, and West Virginia.
The 2026 season carries significant weight for both Utah programs. KSL Sports reported that BYU enters the season following a 12-2 campaign and an appearance in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Utah begins the Morgan Scalley era this year, following the departure of Kyle Whittingly, who left to take the Michigan Wolverines job after leading the Utes to an 11-2 season last fall.
While the Big 12 prepares for its summer media circuit, historical records from the Eureka City Planning Commission show a variety of local development and zoning matters handled in 2020. In July 2020, the commission scheduled a meeting to consider an application by Nate Richardson to install a fence exceeding six feet for agricultural purposes.
In August 20020, the commission's agenda included discussions regarding zoning issues and frontage requirements for property on Main Street owned by Lois Barney, as well as a request from Brad Knight for annexation into Eureka City limits for property located in Utah County.
Other planning commission business from 2020 involved land use and infrastructure. In February 2020, the commission reviewed a proposal by Glen Wahlberg to convert railroad property into a road to provide access for potentially landlocked properties, including lots 24, 26, and part of 27 in Block 7 of the Eureka City Survey.
By October 2020, the agenda featured several applications, including Robert Palfreyman's request for zoning, conditional use permits, and lot splits on Main Street properties, as well as a conditional use permit application from Aaron Schauers of Schauerhaus Studiowerx. The commission also addressed a request from Chris Dever regarding front setbacks for a gazebo installation.
Earlier in 2020, the Eureka Planning Commission also addressed requests from Bob Allinson for a lot split and an inquiry from Tyler Fowlke regarding property use during their January meeting.
In unrelated municipal news, the Monroe City Public Library Board held a meeting on January 8, 2024. The agenda for that session included a review of the annual statistical report, discussions regarding technology plans, and consideration of policy changes related to library fines.
