Details of Alleged Crime
According to charging documents, Asman shot Burns in the head before escorting her two children past her body while instructing them to "cover their eyes." Following the incident, the children were taken to their aunt's house. Police reported that Asman stopped at a Heber City gas station before fleeing the area.
History of Domestic Violence
Court records show that Burns had previously warned police she was afraid Asman would kill her after he was arrested for domestic violence in June 2022. While he was initially held without bail, he was released on bail 10 days after that arrest.
