HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division, known locally in Utah as MountainStar Healthcare, recently presented a $40,000 grant from the HCA Healthcare Foundation to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Salt Lake City. The grant is intended to support cancer patients undergoing treatment and their caregivers.
Broader Foundation Commitment
This local grant is part of a larger $240,000 commitment by the HCA Healthcare Foundation to support Hope Lodge locations across six HCA Healthcare markets, which also include Houston, Nashville, Tampa, Kansas City, and Charleston.
Impact on Patient Services
The funding will help the Salt Lake City Hope Lodge provide expanded access to nutritious meals, food security resources, and supportive programming for guests. The American Cancer Society notes that more than 200,000 people travel 40 miles or more annually to receive cancer treatment, a figure that continues to increase.
Supporting Patients Beyond Clinical Care
Evan Ray, president of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, stated that improving access to care involves supporting patients beyond their clinical treatment and noted that the donation helps provide critical support and community for families during challenging times.
Volunteerism and Future Programs
Aimee Frost, general manager of the Hope Lodge of Salt Lake City, expressed honor in receiving the grant and said the funding will help ensure sustenance and security. She also noted that HCA Healthcare colleagues are expected to participate in the Meals of Hope program by serving dinner to guests throughout the year.

The gift is part of a long-standing partnership between the HCA Healthcare Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Since 1998, the foundation has contributed more than $242 million to health and well-being initiatives.

In addition to philanthropic support, HCA Healthcare colleagues contribute through volunteerism, leadership, and personal giving. Through their partnership with the Hope Lodge, MountainStar Healthcare oncology nurse navigators work to help remove barriers to care for patients.
