Tooele County enacted Ordinance 2026-10 on Sept. 1, 2026, to amend the official zoning map. According to the ordinance, the measure rezones approximately 78.24 acres of land located east of Stansbury Park from A-20 to C-S.
The rezone request was submitted by Scott Baird on behalf of Kennecott Utah Copper Corp. The land, identified as Parcel 05-033-0-0051, was previously designated as A-20, which signifies agriculture with a 20-acre minimum lot size. It has been changed to C-S, designated for commercial shopping.
The area is situated east of Stansbury Park and SR-36, south of Lake Point City, west of the Union Pacific Railroad, and north of Erda City.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding the requested zone change and voted unanimously in favor of the rezone. The ordinance was passed and approved by the Tooele County Council on Sept. 1, 2026.
The ordinance was scheduled to become effective fifteen days after its passage, provided it had been published.
