Wildland firefighter Nathan Matthews, 43, died Friday from injuries sustained during the Knowles Fire. Matthews was a member of the Wildland Fire Service based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The injuries were sustained on June 27 while responding to the Knowles Fire, which impacted western Colorado and portions of eastern Utah.
Matthews was assigned to the Rifle Helitack crew during the incident.
Matthews is the fourth firefighter to die in relation to the June wildfire.
