University of Utah Health announced several leadership appointments and recognitions throughout 2024, according to a series of press releases and news updates from the institution.
Bob S. Carter, M.D., Ph.D., a neurosurgeon, was named the university’s new senior vice president for health sciences and CEO of University of Utah Health following an extensive national search, as announced by President Taylor Randall.
Other leadership appointments included Aaron Quinlan, PhD, as Chair of the Department of Human Genetics in the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, effective August 19, 2024, and Janet Iwasa, PhD, as Director of the Genetic Science Learning Center, effective July 1, 2024.
The institution received various accolades, including the Baby-Friendly designation for the fourth time, making University of Utah Hospital the only facility in Utah to hold that accreditation. Additionally, University of Utah Health was recognized by Vizient as a 2024 Birnbaum Quality Leadership Top Performer for the 15th consecutive year.
Other notable recognitions included Wesley Sundquist, Ph.D., being awarded the 2024 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize and Jasmin Charles being named the National Physician Assistant of the Year by the AAPA.
