The Covey Center for the Arts has announced new non-performing dance class options for the fall 2026 season, according to a report published August 19. These new offerings are intended to provide dancers with the opportunity to improve skills and technique without the commitment of preparing for a stage performance.
The fall dance semester is scheduled to run from September 8 through November 18. Registration is currently underway, and the add/drop deadline is set for September 28. New non-performing options include Adult Intermediate Ballet, Pointe Prep, Adult Daytime Combo, and Adult Hip Hop.
Elizabeth Crandall, the Dance and Education Director at The Covey, stated that the decision to offer non-performing classes was a response to student feedback. She noted the change aims to provide a space to dance without the stress of a show. While some classes focus on instruction, others will build toward a holiday-themed performance on November 18.
In related community news, the Miss Provo & Miss Liberty Belle pageant will include a special memorial to honor the life of Brynn Carnesecca. Carnesecca, a former Miss American Fork title holder and contestant for the Miss Provo pageant, passed away on July 26.
Event organizer and Miss Provo Executive Director Tricia Funes stated that the upcoming August 22 event will continue forward with a memorial to appreciate the positive impact Carnesecca had on the Miss Utah Scholarship Organization. Funes noted the program remains committed to the journey Carnesecca began, focusing on compassion and support for young women.
The Covey Center for the Arts continues to expand its programming. Since 2022, enrollment has grown from approximately 80–90 students per semester to the lower 300s per semester under Crandall's leadership.
