Spring Creek Principal Jay Porter released a message on October 19 detailing upcoming school activities and academic breaks. The announcement highlighted a successful District Literacy Night and provided a schedule for upcoming holidays and community events.
According to the October 19 statement, Fall Break is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 21, and will continue through Monday, October 26. School is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, October 27. Additionally, a Kindie Fall Walk to Bicentennial Park is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Spring Creek Choir will hold a party to celebrate attendance and hard work on Friday, October 30, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., where singers may wear costumes. Furthermore, Spring Creek will host a school-wide Día de los Muertos Ofrenda from October 28 through November 6. This celebration of life allows students to honor deceased loved ones or pets by providing digital photos. All digital photo submissions and donations for the Ofrenda are due no later than Tuesday, October 27.
The weekly family talking point for the school is compassion, described by Porter as a sympathetic consciousness of another's distress combined with a sincere desire to alleviate or aid it. Porter noted that students have demonstrated compassion through actions such as helping crying students in hallways or comforting children on the playground.
A Spring Creek Family Literacy and Community Night, titled "A Harvest of Learning," is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will feature community resources, literacy activities in classrooms, and a light dinner while supplies last.
