South Jordan has released the entry form for the 2026 gingerbread house contest. According to a notice on the city's website, registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis for those committing to making and displaying an entry.
Participants must follow specific rules for the competition. Entries must be entirely edible and original, meaning gingerbread house kits are not permitted. All candy must be unwrapped, and perishable foods or lollipop sticks are prohibited. Additionally, entries must be freestanding, securely attached to a plywood base no larger than 2 feet by 2 feet, and may only use battery-operated lighting.
Entries are scheduled to be dropped off at City Hall on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The displays will remain at City Hall through December 9, 2026. Participants must pick up their entries on December 10, or they will be discarded.
The contest includes several categories: Youth (11 years and under), Teen (12-17), Adult-Beginner (18+), Adult-Advanced (18+), and Group/mixed age. The City of South Jordan reserves the right to refuse inappropriate entries or disqualify competitors who fail to follow rules or falsify information.
