The Emery County Commission is scheduled to hold a regular meeting on Oct. 6, 2026, according to a notice published Oct. 1. The meeting is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Emery County Administration Building located at 75 E Main Street in Castle Dale, Utah.
The commission, consisting of Chairman Dennis Worwood, Vice Chairman Jordan Leonard, and Commissioner Keven Jensen, will address a consent agenda during the session. Items slated for the consent agenda include the approval of the Sept. 15, 2026, Commission Meeting Minutes and the approval of check edits, requisitions, and dispositions. Additionally, the board will consider hiring Gordon Kelten Larsen as a full-time Deputy I at a wage of $26.40 per hour, noting he is COC and LEO POST certified with full benefits.
The meeting agenda includes several discussion and decision items. The commission will consider a monetary sponsorship for the Emery Rodeo Team Highschool Rodeo, which is scheduled for April 2–3, 2027. Other agenda items include the ratification of a JAG Block Grant Application and the acceptance of the 2027 Children and Teen Book Enhancement Mini-Grant. The board will also discuss the acceptance of a PBS Utah 2026 Reading Marathon Mini Grant intended for several local branches, including the Castle Dale, Cleveland, Elmo, Emery, Ferron, Green River, Huntington, and Orangeville libraries.
Additional business involves various contracts and agreements. The commission will discuss or vote on contracts with Nichols Construction Group, LLC (DBA Nichols Remodeling and Construction) for renovation and improvement projects at the Huntington and Castle Dale libraries. Other items include agreements regarding record digitization services between the Emery County Archives and Emery County SSD#1, and the use of TRT funds via an MOU between the Emery County Travel Bureau and Emery County EMS SSD. The board will also review a contract with the Utah Association of Counties for Commercial Valuation and Commercial BOE Services, 2026 BOE Adjustments, and a social media marketing agreement with SHERPA.
