The Alta Town Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, to consider multiple amendments to the Town of Alta Municipal Code, according to a Sept. 30 notice. The meeting is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Alta Post Office Building located at 10351 E Hwy 210.
The council will consider three specific legislative items during the hearing. First, officials will consider amending Section 9-1-2 of the Town of Alta Municipal Code to adopt the 2024 Edition of the International Wildland Urban Interface Code, in accordance with H.B. 41 from the 2026 General Legislative Session of the State of Utah.
Additionally, the council will review proposed changes to Section 10-5 of the Municipal Code to shift Land Use Appeal Authority from the Town Council to an Administrative Law Judge. The third item involves amending Section 10-6A-5 to transfer authority for determining setback requirements in Forestry and Recreation Zones from the Town Council to the Planning Commission.
The meeting will be a hybrid event, allowing for both in-person attendance and virtual participation. For those attending virtually, the town recommends notifying Brooke Boone via email in advance of the meeting. During the hearing, each person will be permitted to speak for up to three minutes on each item of business.
Materials related to these proposed amendments will be available for review on the Town of Alta website or at the Town Office, located at 10201 East Highway 210, during normal business hours prior to the meeting.
