Real Salt Lake has acquired forward Jason Shokalook from Chicago Fire FC, according to a notice from the club. The transaction includes an exchange of up to $200,000 in General Allocation Money, split between $50,000 in 2026 and $100,000 in 2027, with an additional $50,000 available if performance-based incentives are met.
Shokalook, a 23-year-old native of Erie, Pennsylvania, has signed through December 2026. The agreement includes club options for the 2027 and 2028 calendar years, while Chicago Fire FC retains a percentage of any future trade or transfer. Shokalook is expected to wear jersey number 13.
Real Salt Lake Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid stated that Shokalook's talent was evident during his time in Chicago and noted the move provides him an opportunity to develop his finishing ability. Shokalook expressed excitement about joining a club known for providing opportunities to younger players and working with Pablo Mastroeni.
Shokalook joins the team with 10 Major League Soccer appearances and two assists. During the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season, he was an MVP candidate after winning the Golden Boot with 20 goals in 22 appearances, and he received MLS NEXT Pro Best XI honors.
The 6'1" striker previously played for the University of Akron, where he was named BIG EAST Offensive player of the Year and a Second-Team All-American. He was selected 35th overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft by Chicago Fire FC.
