Utah State football suffered a 33-0 loss against No. 17 Utah during the 114th meeting of the Battle of the Brothers on Saturday afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium, according to a September 19 report.
The Utes established an early lead with touchdown drives on their first two possessions. Former Aggie wide receiver Braden Pegan caught a 28-yard touchdown from Devon Dampier, and Byrd Ficklin added a nine-yard touchdown run. Utah also added a 36-yard field goal from Dillon Curtis. In the final minute of the first half, Pegan caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Dampier following a punt that was recovered by Utah after touching an Aggie blocker.
Utah's Daniel Bray later added a 63-yard rushing touchdown to extend the lead. Despite the score, the Aggie defense recorded a season-high seven tackles for loss and five pass breakups. Junior safety Chapman Lewis recorded 11 total tackles and one tackle for loss, both career highs.
Graduate quarterback Grady Brosterhous finished with 130 yards on 15-of-29 passing and 17 rushing yards. Javen Jacobs led the Aggies on the ground with 31 yards on five carries. Eli Wood recorded a team-high four receptions for 47 yards.
Utah State is scheduled to host Troy for a nonconference finale on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m. (MT) at Maverik Stadium.
