July 14th, 2026 National Night Out & Neighborhood Watch: Your Guide to a Safer Block
Studies show that connected neighborhoods are safer ones, and we want to help you build one! And it’s easier than you think.
National Night Out Details
The first Tuesday of August is National Night Out, and is a fabulous chance to build relationships with neighbors and First Responders.
Just gather with a few neighbors — a BBQ, drinks, potluck — you choose. Let us know when and where, and our police and fire will come to you, ready to hear your questions and concerns.
“We want the community to feel safe,” Glori Buchei, Community Outreach Coordinator said. “We want you to have contact with the City and bring your concerns so we can work them out together.”
Requirements for National Night Out
What You Will Need:
A neighborhood get-together of at least five homes.
A date, time and location.
Contact (information below) Glori Buchei to coordinate First Responders for your Night Out.
Continue to build those relationships with the Neighborhood Watch program.

This is also a good time to organize a Neighborhood Watch program, if your community doesn’t have one in place.

When neighbors know each other, criminal activity goes down. Awareness deters criminal activity.
Establish contact with West Jordan City and law enforcement to help take care of issues before they become bigger problems.
West Jordan City can provide safety information that you can share with your neighbors.
When you know your neighbors, you build a sense of community and everyone feels safer.
Requirements for Neighborhood Watch
What You Will Need:
Five to ten neighbors for your group.
Decide on an address range for your Watch.
Contact Glori Buchei (information below) to establish your Neighborhood Watch.
You don’t need to patrol your area, just get to know your neighbors! When people know each other, they can help each other.
“We’re all in this together,” Buchei said. “It only takes one person to bring the community together.”
