A 21-year-old female motorcyclist from Hooper died after her motorcycle went off the road on SR-39 near milepost 38 near Monte Cristo, according to a Department of Public Safety press release. The rider was wearing a helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots at the time of the accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 1550 hours when the rider failed to negotiate a curve while traveling westbound. The motorcycle ran off the road to the right and struck multiple trees. Troopers and medical personnel responded to the scene, where the rider was pronounced deceased. Officials stated that speed is being investigated as a possible contributing factor to the crash.
