May marks National Bike Month in Salt Lake City, offering numerous opportunities for residents to celebrate cycling. The month features a range of activities designed for everyone from seasoned commuters to those returning to cycling.
Events throughout the month include the Community Bike Bash with Mayor Mendenelle on May 8 and the SLUG Cat scavenger hunt-style bike race on May 9. Other scheduled rides include the Golden Spoke Ride on May 16, an exploration of the 9 Line Trail on May 23, and a celebration of new Salt Lake City bikeways on May 27.
The month concludes with Bike Prom on May 30.
Several weekly rides are also scheduled throughout the month. Wheelie Spoked takes place every Tuesday at 6 PM starting from Tracy Aviary at Liberty Park. Bike.Club occurs every Wednesday at 6 PM, traveling from Loki Coffee to RoHa Brewing Project. The Salt Lake Coffee Ride is held every Friday at 6:45 AM, also beginning at the Tracy Aviary.
The New Salt Lake City Bikeways Celebration on May 27 will highlight two new protected bikeways on 400 South and 300 West. This route connects the east and west sides of the city and features the Strut public artwork. The event starts and finishes at Neighborhood House.
Other notable events include the Golden Spoke Ride on May 16, which allows participants to explore the Golden Spoke Trail Network connecting Ogden to Provo. Additionally, the Bicycle Collective will host Bike Prom on May 30, a ticketed fundraising event that begins at Liberty Park and ends at Woodbine Food Hall and Drift Lounge.
