The Centerville City Trails Committee met on March 19, 2026, to discuss various trail infrastructure projects and regional connectivity efforts, according to meeting minutes published August 31.
During the meeting, the committee discussed plans for a paved parking trailhead and pit vault restroom facilities at the top of Deuel Creek. Officials identified pit vault toilets as the most practical option due to the high cost of extending utilities to the site. Staff reported that Davis County has verbally committed to covering 50 percent of project costs as part of the broader Bonneville Shoreline Trail system. The U.S. Forest Service has indicated support for future trail development once adequate parking and restroom infrastructure is in place. Similar improvements at Parrish Creek were identified as a longer-term goal.
The committee also reviewed the South Davis Greenway, a regional multi-city effort to create a 12-foot-wide paved, separated multi-use path through South Davis County. The proposed Centerville alignment would run from Farmington along the frontage road to Chase Lane, then follow 400 West before connecting into the Bountiful trail network. While each participating city is responsible for funding its own segment, grant opportunities are being pursued. It was suggested that Centerville prioritize local investments, specifically the Deuel Creek project, over Greenway expenditures.
Other maintenance priorities discussed included the construction of a new Deuel Creek trail segment on county land, retread work between Redbridge and the Parrish Creek Trail junction, and maintenance of the Wagon Wheel trail system. The group also discussed the need for trailhead signage and research into metal etched trail maps. Additionally, the city has submitted a new grant application for a pump track planned near City Hall.
A meeting was confirmed for April 20 at Centerville City Hall with representatives from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and the Forest Service to discuss the trails master plan and wildlife considerations. A work session with the City Council was also confirmed for May 5.
