The West Jordan Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Sept. 15, 2026, to consider several development proposals, including a major land use amendment for the Highlands Landing North project. This upcoming meeting follows a previous scheduled hearing on Sept. 1, 2026, which addressed a grocery site plan and an automotive sales permit.
Highlands Landing North Rezoning
The Sept. 15 hearing will focus on three primary applications, according to a notice posted by the City of West Jordan on Aug. 28, 2026. One of the most significant items involves Peterson Development, which is seeking a future land use map amendment for the Highlands Landing North project located at 7592 South 5490 West.
The proposal for the 9.4-acre site seeks to change the current designation from Very Low Density Residential, Parks and Open Land, and Community Commercial to Medium Density Residential and Community Commercial. Additionally, the applicant is seeking to rezone the property from RR-1-D (Rural Residential 1-Acre Lots) and SC-2 (Community Shopping Center) to R-3-8 (Multiple-Family Dwelling, 8 or less units/acre) and SC-2 (Community Shopping Center).
Additional Development Applications
In addition to the Highlands Landing North rezoning, the Planning Commission will review a preliminary site plan for The Marlowe, located at 3247 West Jordan Loop Lane. The project, submitted by Boulder Ventures, is being reviewed within the Planned Community (P-C) Zone.
The commission is also scheduled to hear a request from Carver Construction regarding the property at 5577 W. Leo Park Rd. The application seeks a Conditional Use Permit for outside storage and operations within the Light Manufacturing (M-1) Zone.
Previous Planning Commission Agenda
These upcoming discussions follow a prior set of public hearings scheduled by the city for Sept. 1, 2026. According to a notice posted on Aug. 19, 2026, the commission was set to review two separate matters during that session.
One item scheduled for the Sept. 1 meeting involved the Oquirrh West Grocery project at 6980 W. Pointe Cedar Ln. The applicant, Chris Bick, submitted a preliminary site plan for the 10.28-acre property located in the P-C Planned Community Zone.
The second item for the Sept. 1 hearing concerned a Conditional Use Permit for OBO Auto Sales LLC/ Marco. The request involves motor vehicle sales for used vehicles at 1346 W. 7800 S and 1352 W. 7800 S, situated in the C-G Zone.
