Kaysville City is continuing its long-standing tradition of hosting Lunch with the Mayor, a quarterly event for elementary students nominated by teachers for demonstrating exceptional leadership and kindness in their classrooms. The program offers students a chance to be recognized, learn about civic responsibility, and dine at City Hall.
New Youth Leadership Component
The program is introducing a new component this year with the participation of members from the Kaysville Youth City Council (KYCC). In addition to joining the Mayor and students for lunch, KYCC members will present the Kaysville K.I.D.S. Leadership Program, an initiative intended to inspire students to follow four key principles: being Kind, Informed, Dependable, and Social.
Mayor's Vision for Young Leaders
Mayor Tamara Tran expressed enthusiasm regarding the event, stating that the program is a wonderful opportunity to connect with future young leaders and empower them to positively impact their schools, families, and neighborhoods. The first luncheon of the school year is scheduled to take place in October at Kaysville City Hall.
City Video Contest Details
As part of the K.I.D.S. Leadership Program, Mayor Tamara Tran and the KYCC have also launched the Why I Love Kaysville video contest. Residents are invited to submit a 30-45 second video showcasing what makes the city unique. Entries can be submitted via email to bcschimmer33@gmail.com between September 1 and November 1. A panel of City Council and Youth City Council members will select a winner, whose video may be featured on city social media platforms.
Kaysville Youth City Council Swearing-In
The Kaysville Youth City Council was sworn in by Mayor Tami Tran on September 5, 2024. The council serves as a group of young individuals dedicated to community service and representing the voices of youth in Kaysville.
