Multiple road construction projects are underway in Taylors and involving UDOT, Enbridge Gas, and city maintenance crews. These projects include intersection work, pipeline replacement, and asphalt seal coating across various locations.
UDOT intersection work began Sunday night, June 14, affecting westbound 5400 South. Between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., this area is restricted to one lane while UDOT completes work in the intersection. These overnight restrictions are expected to continue nightly through Thursday, June 18, though all lanes will reopen during daytime hours.
Enbridge Gas has also begun construction for a replacement pipeline along 1300 West between 4800 South and 5400 South. Starting Monday, June 15, the project will proceed in phases, beginning with the south half of the area before moving to the north half. During this work, which is expected to continue through the rest of the summer, the active section of road will be restricted to southbound-only traffic.
Additional maintenance is scheduled for mid-to-late June. Slurry seal work is planned for Friday, June 19.
Furthermore, crews are working on asphalt seal coat projects through June 28. This project involves color-coded areas that each require a full-day road closure to complete the work. The seal coating is intended to protect road surfaces and extend pavement life. While work is expected to proceed as scheduled, rain may cause delays.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to these ongoing projects. Specific maps and schedules for asphalt seal coat work at locations such as City Hall, 5070 South, 5620 South, and Valois Road have been provided by the city.
