A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City returned an indictment Wednesday charging a California man with multiple drug trafficking crimes following a Tooele County traffic stop that uncovered large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. Evidence recovered from the load car included 2,272 grams of fentanyl powder, 1,168 grams of fentanyl pills, and 916 grams of cocaine. Surveillance Evidence
Investigators also utilized video surveillance to link Adams to the narcotics. Detectives obtained footage showing Adams retrieving a bag from his Chevy Equinox and loading it into the Ford Escape at a residence in Stockton, California. This bag appeared to be one of the bags discovered during the July 31 traffic stop in Utah.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation
Adams is scheduled for an initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Court Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2026. He faces charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
